The full form of CTET is the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, this exam is conducted for those students who are interested in becoming a student-teacher. This exam certifies that the student is eligible to become a teacher.

This exam is held at the national level and is conducted by CBSE twice every year. This test is proof of the eligibility of teachers from 1 to 8 that they are capable of teaching the students of these classes.

What is CTET?

CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) is a certified examination after passing which the student becomes eligible to be a teacher. Once you pass the CTET examination, you will get proof in the form of a certificate.

With this certificate, you will become eligible for the upcoming teacher recruitment. This exam works to decide the eligibility of teachers in schools like KVS and NVS.

This exam is conducted in two levels. If you want to become a teacher of students from 1 to 5, you have to appear in its first exam CTET 1 and if you want to teach students from 6 to 8 then you have to participate in its second exam CTET 2.

If you want to teach students from 1 to 8, then it is mandatory to pass both examinations. The CTET exam is conducted in two levels. CTET 1 decides the eligibility of teachers from 1 to 5 and CTET 2 decides the eligibility of teachers from 6 to 8.

Exam Pattern

The CTET exam is conducted in two parts –

  • CTET 1 – for students interested in becoming a teacher for classes 1 to 5.
  • CTET 2 – for students interested in becoming a teacher in classes 6 to 8.

Both the question papers are of 150-150 marks. To pass, it is mandatory to get 60% marks for the general category and 55% marks for scheduled castes and tribes.

Syllabus

CTET 1 Exam Syllabus – 30 questions from Child Development and Pedagogy in CTET 1st Exam Language 1 to 30 questions (Language for which you have applied at the time of admission) and 30 questions from Language 2 (Language for which you have applied at the time of admission).

Apart from this 30-30 questions from Mathematics and Environment consists of a total of 150 questions. For which you are given 2 hours 30 minutes.

CTET 2 Exam Syllabus – The second exam of CTET consists of 150 marks. 30 questions from Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, 30 questions from Language 2 (the language for which you have applied at the time of admission), and 60 questions according to your selected subject. Such as – Mathematics and Science (for Mathematics and science teachers), Social Science or Social Studies (for S.St teachers).

(The language of questions in Language 1 and Language 2 are in their language and the language of the rest of the questions are in both Hindi and English.)

Educational Qualification

The students must appear in the CTET exam to fulfill the following criteria. which are as follows:

Educational Qualification for C.T.E.T First Exam

If you want to participate in the first examination of CTET, then you must have passed a Diploma in Elementary Education from a recognized university with at least 50% marks. (If you belong to SC/ST then it is mandatory to have 45% marks.)

You have Passed the final year of B.EI.Ed from a recognized university. (If you wish, you can also fill in earlier while Appearing.) You must have completed 2-year courses in any special education.

Educational Qualification for C.T.E.T II Exam

If you have passed the final examination of 2 years of Diploma in Elementary Education from a recognized university or institute then you can participate in this examination.

You must have passed Graduation with 50% marks or MasterS with 50% marks and passed the first-year B.Ed exam. (If you belong to SC/ST then it is mandatory to have 45% marks.)

Validity of the Certificate

The validity of the CTET certificate is for 7 years. But soon its validity is expected to be done for Life Time.

You can continuously increase these years by re-passing these exams after or before the validity of CTET expires.

  • To apply for the CTET exam, first of all, open the official website of CTET.
  • After going to the homepage of the official website, click on “Application”.
  • Fill out the application form carefully.
  • After filling in all the information carefully, click on the submit option.
  • Now Save and download the Application Form.

How to prepare for Exam 2025

  • To crack the CTET exam, you must do smart learning. Here Smart Learning is meant to prepare according to the syllabus.
  • Whenever you read a topic, make it a habit to read it in detail. Gain knowledge of all aspects of that topic.
  • Completely revise what you have studied 1 week before the exam.
