You can become a government teacher after doing the following courses, which are as follows –

Step 1: Pass the 12th (Intermediate) Exam

Intermediate is the first step on the path to becoming a government teacher. Under this, you need to choose which subject you are interested in studying.

Your selection will play an important role in your goal of becoming a teacher in the future.

Step 2: Take the Graduation Course

It is mandatory for you to choose the course (BA, BSC, B.COM) under graduation on the basis of your 11th and 12th subjects.

If you have a science stream in the 11th and 12th then you should choose the BSC course.

Similarly, if there is Maths then B.COM Course and Art Subjects (Political Science, History, Economics etc.) then BA Course should be done.

While doing a graduation course, you must keep in mind that your subject combination is being formed like – Political science is related to history.

Step 3: Do a Post Graduation Course (only to become a teacher of higher education)

However, you can become a teacher by getting B.Ed or special education only with graduation.

But if you want to become a PGT Teacher, Lecturer or Professor it is mandatory for you to do Post Graduation.

If you have done graduation with BA then you should further do MA Course, B.Sc. MSC Course and if you have done B.Com then do M.COM Course.

Remember, do PG with related subjects of UG.

You should choose the subject of the UG, in which you are interested and have, comparatively, better command than other subjects.

The subject should be one of the subjects of your graduation.

Step 4: Do B.Ed Course

If you want to become a government teacher it is mandatory for you to do a B.Ed course.

It develops the skills of teaching in you. Under this, opportunities like Teaching, Training, or Real Teaching are provided to you.

B.Ed course is a course of 2 years duration. If you belong to the general category then with 50% marks and if you belong to a scheduled caste or tribe you must pass with 45% marks.

After doing this course, if you want, you can be appointed as a teacher in any private school.

Join any private school and gain teaching experience.

Step 5: Clear CTET and TET Exams

CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) and TET (Teaching Eligibility Test) are the entrance exam of becoming a teacher.

After clearing these exams you become eligible for teacher recruitment examinations of KVS and NVS schools.

Both these exams are held in two parts. First exam and second exam. Its first exam is for teachers of classes 1 to 5.

The second examination is for students who are interested in becoming a teacher of classes 6 to 8.

Step 6: Do D.El.Ed Course (as an alternative to B.Ed)

If you are thinking of becoming a teacher at the primary level, then you can do D.El.Ed course instead of B.Ed course.

This course is also 2 years like B.Ed. In which work is done to enhance your teaching-related skills.

If you want to become a government teacher, then after doing this course you need to clear exams like CTET or TET.

After doing this course, you can do teaching-related work in Private Primary Schools also.

How to Become a TGT Teacher

To become a TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) teacher, you must have passed Graduation and B.Ed with 50% marks. Along with this, you also need to pass an exam like TET.

After becoming a TET teacher, you can become a teacher of classes 6 to 10.

How to Become a PGT Teacher

To become a PGT (Post Graduation Teacher) teacher, it is mandatory to have B.Ed along with post-graduation (MA, MSC, M.COM).

If you are from a general category then it is mandatory to pass with 50% marks and if you are from SC or ST then it is mandatory to pass with 45% marks.

Along with this, it is mandatory for you to pass exams like CTET and TET to become a PGT government teacher. Which is the proof of the eligibility of the quality of the teacher.

After that you can become a government teacher by applying for the post of PGT Teacher and if you want you can join PGT Post in a private school also.

How to Become a Professor

If you want to become a professor in a college, then it is mandatory for you to pass the NET exam after post-graduation.

You can do P.Hd. After doing all this, you should be appointed to the post of Assistant Professor in which you are paid a good salary.

After becoming an Assistant Professor, when you have experience. You will be made a professor with a promotion.
