All Star Game 2022 MLB – host selection

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2022 MLB All-Star Game after the planned 2020 MLB All-Star Game was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

This would be the fourth time the Dodgers All-Star game was hosted at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn in 1949 (when the franchise played as the Brooklyn Dodgers), at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 1959, and at Dodger Stadium in 1980.

Roster Selection

The starting rosters for each league’s positions player and designated hitter (DH) were determined by fan voting, which was conducted in two phases.

New in 2022, the top voters in each league’s first tier were automatically placed in the starting lineup.

Every other non-pitching position gained and D.H. Each league usually has six finalists for the three outfield positions, except when one outfielder is the one with the most votes, in which case there are four finalists for the remaining two outfield positions and there is no voting between stages.

The first round of voting took place from June 8 to June 30 and the second round of voting took place from July 5 to July 8. All polling was done online through mlb.com or the MLB app.

The initial players selected by the ballot were announced on 8 July. Reserve players and all pitchers – selected via “player ballot” options and made by the Commissioner’s Office – were announced on 10 July.

The final register size of every team was organized to be 32 players.

All-Star Heritage Selection

MLB announced on July 8 that Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera had been added as the 33rd players for the NL and AL respectively, making it the 11th All-Star selection for Pujols and 12th for Cabrera in celebration of his career achievements.
