Controversies Related to Ready or Not Game

Ready or Not was the best-selling game on Steam a week after its release and was celebrated as the spiritual successor to the early Rainbow Six games in the Police Quest – SWAT series.

In an early review for Kotaku, Ethan Gatch called Ready or Not a “strategic horror game” and “an unsettling SWAT fantasy”, praising its atmosphere, but criticizing it for its insensitivity to American police brutality and Shocked tone changes in raw humor and tastelessness.

Gatch also rejected explicit references to alt-right memes such as Red Pill, using “jogger” as a racist euphemism (about Ahmad Arbery), the developers responded to the criticism, with any links to extremism.

Denying that and claiming the alleged dog whistle was coincidental, It was also stated that they would remove the image.

Ready or Not Steam stopped by adding nightclub shooting levels

Ready or Not is back on Steam, as developer Void Interactive said the removal was due to a “suggestion of a trademark infringement”.

In a post shared on Twitter on Saturday, the studio said it wanted to “address the rumors” and explained that a removal request went out after it added a platform showing mass shootings at a nightclub via Steam.

Players on social media have pointed out that the name of the nightclub was similar to that of the UK chain until recently. Later that day, the developer confirmed whether Ready or Not was back on Steam.

Original story, June 17, 2022: Tactical shooter title Ready or Not has been tentatively listed from Steam, a week after it added a platform featuring mass shootings in a nightclub.

As reported by NME, the level was added on June 12, the anniversary of the 2016 mass shooting targeting LGBTQ+ attendees at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

In a Twitter post, Ready or Not developer Void Interactive acknowledged that the game was listed, but did not explain it, and said it would provide an update soon.

NME further stated that the reason for listing the shooter is unknown, with Valve having previously removed the game for depicting violent real-world events.

This isn’t the first time Zero Interactive has found itself in the news with regards to content within Ready or Not. In December 2021, the developer left to work with publisher Team17.

It did not explain why the companies agreed to split, but days after the split, the developer said that future missions would reflect the state of the school shootings.

Ready or Not Once Again Ready for steam

Ready or not ready again for steam – The developers of Ready or Not — a tactical FPS that was released in Early Access late last year — have confirmed that the shooter has returned to Steam after being mysteriously pulled from sales earlier this week.

In a description, Zero Interactive expressed sorry for the trademark infringement.

It took the studio two days to fully elaborate on why the games were taken offline in the first place.

After being pulled down mysteriously on June 16, Void Interactive finally issued a statement saying it wants to “dispel the rumors about Ready or Not Landing.”

VOID said, “We provide a build-up request via Steam in connection with a recommended trademark violation on our Nightclub map, which was split as a segment of our most neoteric Steam update”.

Zero Interactive didn’t seem to be around for long as the developer retweeted later that same day, confirming that the shooter was “once again available.”

Zero didn’t elaborate on what, exactly, the trademark issue was, but some players suggested trying before today’s draw may be because the fictional nightclub – referred to as “Prism” in the game – is a Touch was also similar to the UK nightclub chain of the same name.
