7 littile word

7 Little Words

7 Little Words is a word puzzle that successfully combines elements of crosswords, anagrams, and word searches. The game’s objective is to find seven distinct words based on seven provided clues, using a central bank of grouped letter tiles. Each clue always indicates the exact number of letters in its answer.

The game is designed for a relaxed pace, as there are no time limits or penalties for incorrect guesses. New puzzles are released daily for free on the official website and via the app.

How to Decipher the Puzzle

7 Little Words isn’t about random guessing – it follows a logical, three-step process built on deduction and pattern recognition.

How to play guide

1. Analyze the Clues for Length and Specificity

You receive seven clues, such as “A four-letter word meaning ‘quick'” (4).

  • Start with the shortest words (3 or 4 letters). Their limited length significantly reduces the number of possible letter combinations you need to form.
  • Look at the clue not just for a definition, but for a category. If the clue is “Type of fruit,” you know the answer must be a noun related to food, which restricts your mental search to words like APPLE, PEAR, or LIME.

2. Letter Block Segmentation

The letter bank provides all the necessary tiles, but they are grouped into 2- and 3-letter blocks (e.g., TH, ER, SP). The tiles do not correspond directly to individual letters.

  • The most efficient method is to scan the available blocks for common starting/Ending segments. Look for:
    • Vowel Combinations: AI, OU, EA, IE
    • Common Prefixes: UN, RE, DE, EX
    • Common Consonant Blends: ST, CH, TH, PL
  • By identifying these strong starter or ender blocks first, you can effectively begin to build the word from the outside in. If your clue requires an 8-letter word and you see blocks like RE and LY available, you can confidently assume the word either starts with RE or ends with LY. This immediately reduces your remaining search space to just 4 or 6 letters.

3. Elimination Method (Without Guessing)

Since there is no penalty for an incorrect assembly of blocks, use the process to eliminate combinations visually:

  • Test and Discard. If you suspect the word is ‘PLANET’ and you have the blocks PL, AN, and ET, but no E or T block available, you know ‘PLANET’ is incorrect. Move on.
  • Watch the Letter Pool. For example, every time you use a set of blocks to correctly form an answer, those blocks are removed from the pool, making the remaining six words progressively easier to solve. The final word is often solved instantly because only the required tiles remain.

I find that focusing on the segmentation of the letter blocks is the single best change a player can make to speed up their solve time. You are essentially turning one large anagram puzzle into three smaller, solvable segments.
